Wilpattu National Park
Wilpattu is Sri Lanka's largest national park, famous for its natural sand-rimmed lakes (villus) and a far lower density of tourist jeeps than the south. Two days here means real quiet between sightings, dense leopard and sloth bear territory, and a landscape of dry forest and lakes unlike anywhere else on the island.
Day by day
Transfer to the Wilpattu area and check in, then head into the park for an afternoon game drive around the villus as animals come to drink.
An extended morning safari deep into the park's quieter zones, followed by breakfast and your transfer onward or to the airport.
